Installing the ExceptionNotifier Plugin

Use

ruby script/plugin install exception_notification

to install Jamis Buck’s handy plugin.

I write this only because I spent 5 minutes trying ExceptionNotifier, exception_notifier and variants thereof before realizing exception_notification is the magic word. Yeah, I now realize it’s the directory name as it exists in subversion, but my mind wasn’t quite there 5 minutes ago.

Maybe this will save somebody 5 minutes of their own time.

Or maybe you will mock me.

Hey Scotty - I'd say the Agile Web Development site is as close as we have to a PluginForge - and it does a pretty good job of serving as a directory for available plugins.

What we need is the idiot-auto-correct feature in script/plugin that will map whatever Ryan thinks the plugin should be called to what the actual installable name is :)

If anyone uses RadRails out there, we're starting just that Scotty. http://plugins.radrails.org , which currently ties into our Plugin installer in RadRails. We will eventually be setting up an API, so that anyone can get a list of plugins as well as search for plugins. We've got a bunch of useful plugins already in there, you might check it out.

I did the same thing. Running script/plugin list helped me out.

All that being said, exception_notification is fabulous. We use the plugin at PLANET ARGON along with an internal mailing list to deliver a higher level of service for our client projects.

*mockmockmock* Seriously though, plug-ins can be a pain to find on occasion. There needs to be a plug-in forge, like Ruby forge.
