Well... According to the Agile Web Development with Rails beta book, the book is coming out before RoR 1.2, and its website says december 13th. So RoR 1.2 could come out late december or maybe even in january...

I'm really hoping it's in late December or January. I'm in school right now, but graduating in December -- it'll give me plenty of time to get up to speed that way : )

So it was 1.1.2 until now?

Actually, the most current stable release is 1.1.6. See the version on the stable branch: "http://dev.rubyonrails.org/browser/branches/stable/railties/lib/rails/version.rb?rev=5507":http://dev.rubyonrails.org/browser/branches/stable/railties/lib/rails/version.rb?rev=5507

I know, but the changeset looks strange to me.

my guess was that now that they're maintaining a 1.2 branch, the trunk is post-1.2, so the trunk version should at least be 1.2 (e.g. if for some reason you need to programatically check Rails::VERSION)
